Why Justice Online Uses a Custom Episode

Justice Online

Justice Online is being built as its own Custom Episode of Shaiya, not as a reproduction of one numbered stock release.

Shaiya is still the foundation: two factions, class identity, group play, PvP conflict and the progression loop that veteran players recognize. The difference is that Justice Online is not treating one historical client package as a boundary that every new system has to stay inside.

What “Custom Episode” means here

  • Client-side systems and interfaces can be redesigned when the original experience gets in the way.
  • Progression, encounters and world content can be tuned as one connected game instead of inheriting every stock decision unchanged.
  • Quality-of-life work is developed alongside gameplay rather than added as a separate website feature.
  • Localization, launcher and update delivery are treated as part of the product itself.

That is why we avoid presenting Justice Online as a stock episode with a few custom additions. The goal is to preserve the parts of Shaiya that make it feel like Shaiya while being willing to change the parts that no longer serve the experience we want to build.

Closed Alpha is where that claim is tested. Custom systems only matter if they remain understandable, stable and balanced when real players use them. Alpha feedback is therefore focused on progression, PvP and class balance, economy, bosses, stability, exploits and the usability of new client systems.
